Re:       HB 352

Dear Representative Edwards:

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 198,000 members and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel; and students. Over 1,300 of our members reside in Utah.

ASHA maintains that music therapists are not appropriately trained to diagnose, assess, and treat communication disorders, which falls under the scope of practice for speech-language pathologists.
